Elizabeth Aubrey
Hello...I'm Liz and I'm a freelance arts writer and editor. I write about music, film, television and literature for a number of publications including NME, Evening Standard, The Guardian, The Independent, The i, Crack Magazine, The Quietus, Gigwise, Drowned in Sound and more.
I am an experienced news, critic and features writer and have interviewed lots of people from across the arts, many of which have resulted in front cover features. Examples of people I've spoken to recently include...Andrew Garfield, Christine and the Queens, Sons of Kemet, Simon Pegg, Jenna Coleman, Yoko Ono, Shirley Manson, Cypress Hill, Billy Howle, Charlie Heaton, Lisa Stansfield, The Boxer Rebellion, Nicky Wire, Jen Cloher, Steve Aoki, Nadine Shah, Giles Martin, The National, Michael Giacchino, Nicholas Winding Refn, James Lavelle, Greta Gerwig, Ken Loach, Mike Leigh, Yann Tiersen, Eels...and many more.
In addition to arts writing, I also write about education and social policy for The Guardian, EdCentral, TES and The Education Support Partnership where I specialise in teacher workload, academic research, recruitment and retention and teenage mental health.
I have a first class honours degree in English Language, Literature and Linguistics, an MA in gender, cultural and post-colonial studies and a PGCE. I'm also a fully qualified NCTJ trained journalist with gold standard, something I completed via the News Associates training scheme.
When I'm not writing, I can usually be found listening to music, watching The Simpsons or despairing at Donald Trump's latest tweets.
