Recently on Melrose Place, photo director Suzanne Donaldson curated the ultimate female exhibit, utilizing the work of up-and-coming female photographers in support of the organization Step Up. The event, hosted in the Zero + Maria Cornejo Melrose Place storefront, displayed the work of six Los Angeles-based photographers: Bibi Cornejo Borthwick, Grace Bukunmi, Drew Escriva, Kanya Iwana, Maggie Shannon and Lauren Ward. The photographers each dressed their models in a piece from Zero + Maria Cornejo’s cool sim jersey collection and shot them in a manner that embodied their individual styles as artists.
During a lovely night of rosé and vegan cheese, guests and artists alike perused the work of our photographers among Zero + Maria Cornejo’s bold and classy pieces. Limited-edition prints of the photographs were for sale at the exhibit, with all proceeds going to the Los Angeles chapter of Step Up.
Step Up is a charity designed to benefit girls in communities in need, bringing them programs that empower them to reach their potential as professional women.
Some of the prints from the exhibit are still for sale in Zero + Maria Cornejo, and any purchase would support the work of female artists as well as girls in Los Angeles. The photographs are shown below.
