Wrangler | Sustainable Denim
by Morgan Vickery
Wrangler, the legendary denim enthusiasts, has long championed the authentic American style. Particularly the American West, despite its global lifestyle acclaim. With timeless collections designed for men, women, and children, Wrangler provides an unmatched quality within their denim category.
With the release of the latest U.S. climate report, companies have begun to implement sustainable contributions- and Wrangler has hopped on the wagon. In its mission to reduce carbon footprints, the ICONS collection now holds the title for most sustainable line in the brand’s history. By eliminating 100 percent of water usage, the dyeing process includes a revolutionary foam-dyeing technology dubbed ‘Indigood.’
Committed to transforming standards of sustainable denim, Wrangler continues to research, discover, and implement eco-friendly dye throughout its supply chain. Replacing traditional water vats and chemical baths, Indigood reduces both energy use and waste by more than 60 percent. Furthering the Wrangler mission, their sustainability goals include:
Conserving 5.5 billion liters of water at owned and operated facilities by 2020.
Using 100% preferred chemistry throughout our supply chain by 2020.
Powering all owned and operated facilities with 100% renewable electricity by 2025.
Sourcing 100% sustainable cotton by 2025
Director of Sustainability at Wrangler, Roian Atwood reveals, “We are continuously looking for opportunities to improve the sustainable impact of our products from field to seam and we are proud of what we’ve promised to achieve through Indigood.”
