Weekend Recall | Brooke Wise
by Maceo Bastien
Flaunt Fave and Curator Brooke Wise recently celebrated her “twenty-$ometh!nG years old” bday with a grip of her art world friends celebrating with a dinner at ardor at the west hollywood EDITION followed by a nonstop dance party set to a soundtrack of DJ Bonobo.
Wise curated a widely acclaimed show King Dogs Never Grow Old at Diane Rosenstein. The show featured works ranging from paintings, sculpture, and ceramics by a broad group of artists from Ginny Casey, Sam Crow, Tom of Finland, and Jillian Mayer to Haley Mellin, Robert Moreland, Rose Nestler, and Scott Reeder. The exhibit's name is borrows from André Breton and Philippe Soupault’s surrealist text Les Champs Magnétiques (The Magnetic Fields). This in turn dictated the broad range of works that can easily be described as nonsensical and the dreamlike unconscious.
