Weekend Recall | Betta Lemme

Betta Lemme is the Montreal-born singer/songwriter crafting melodies with impetuous romance, drama, and on occasion, a little tragedy. Moving to New York City, Betta self-built her budding career, collaborating with electro-duo Sofi Tukker on the 2016 single “Awoo.” In 2017, Betta debuted her solo career with Bambola—a three-song EP with mesmerizing power. A trilinguist, Lemme delivers “Bambola” in Italian, French, and English with textured sounds of slippery rhythms, twisty guitar riffs, and magnetic bass. Lemme seamlessly integrates her two greatest musical inspirations,’60s orchestral pop and ’90s dance music, creating hypnotic dance-pop melodies. We caught up with Betta in Copenhagen, London, and New York, to catch a glimpse of a weekend in her life.

Last day here. The city is quiet, quaint, organized. Life feels a little more still here which is a plus because I’m about to spend 10 hours in the studio...

I thought this statue was a historical monument or memorial at first until I began to read... turns out it was simply legendary! I almost wanted to buy some spray paint and cross out the word ‘boy’ to replace it with ‘girl’ ... but gotta respect the art. Know what I mean?

Good morning London!

I’m only here for a couple of hours but am making just enough time to jump into nature and smell the roses (or in this case, little daisies). Tbh a friend dragged me out. I prefer eating ramen, listening to Dusty Speingfield, and watching the Golden Girls in private.

Alas, subtly saying goodbye to the streets of London. . Next stop? NYC!

Made it safely. Soundly. Right on time for a shoot with... guess who? Flaunt Magazine... featuring my now very international sneakers. Notice the progression from crisp white to grey.

I jumped around in a sundress while strangers watched you guys shooting. Perplexed? Maybe. Did we get the shot? Yes. NEXT STOP. TORONTO, CANADA. BUT WHY? Well I’ve got a music video to direct and shoot for my next single. Can’t wait to share it with you all! We can’t continue because this is a weekend recall and Toronto falls on a Monday. Perhaps we should consider a Part 2.... *blush*.
