Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Platform is featuring the work of Rose Wylie and her Irish-themed Valentine’s painting titled, “Irish Cupid”.
Platform is an online art selling platform that curates artwork in collaboration with the David Zwirner gallery. This month, Platform is spotlighting British painter Rose Wylie, who is renowned for her vibrant and childlike compositions that evoke senses of nostalgia.
Wylie is a decorated artist whose work has been featured in various collections across the globe. David Zwirner gallery recognizes the beauty and magnetism of Wylie’s art and has been representing her since 2017.
The artist’s depiction of the “Irish Cupid” is inspired by a 20th-century Valentine’s Day card from a series titled, Cupid in Different Climes, by Raphael Tuck & Sons. Wylie distinguishes her work by applying personal style and reworking the dialogue painted on the piece.“Irish Cupid,” in particular, speaks to the sophistication of Wylie’s style, while adhering to the sense of innocence in her painting.
