Robin Graubard | Documenting the Road to Nowhere

by Sam Franzini

American artist Robin Graubard is preparing to release her debut photography book, Road to Nowhere, out this month on Loose Joints Publishing. The book showcases Graubard’s photographic diaries from 1993-1995 as she traveled around Eastern Europe after the dissolution of the USSR. Witnessing such events as the Yugoslav War, the Bosnian genocide, and the Kosovan uprising, Graubard’s photos uncovers the harsh reality of suffering as well as cultures emerging from the Soviet Union’s rubble. Graubard has been nominated for two Pulitzer Prizes, and her work has been shown at the MoMA, The Whitney Museum, and The Bronx Museum of Fine Arts.
