Prada Mode | Martine Syms' "HelLA World"

For the seventh iteration of Prada Mode, artist Martine Syms debuted “HelLA World” at Genghis Cohen right on Fairfax Ave. On February 16th and 17th members were delighted with “HelLA World” where text and video installations met with live performance, narrative exposition, and casual conversations with strangers.
For the occasion of Frieze, LA Martine Syms met with artist and poet Diamond Stingly, artist and filmmaker Garrett Bradley, filmmaker Daisy Zhou for “LA, Cinema and Contemprary Art” which was moderated by Erin Christovale, Hammer Museum Associate Curator, and introduced by Victoria Siddall, Board Director of Frieze.
The following day Syms spoke with Sarah E. Lewis, Associate Professor, Harvard University, Dept. of History of Art & Architecture, and African & African American Studies. for an explorative conversation, “HelLa World Installation, its Genesis and the Link to Her Wider Practice.”
The first night featured a live performance by Junglepussy and DJ sets by Acyde, Bae Bae, Bianca Lexis, Damar Davis, Femi Adeyemi, Harriet Brown, Kyle Hall, while the second welcomed a live performance by Sudan Archives and DJ set by Acyde, Bae Bae, Bianca Lexis, Damar Davis, Femi Adeyemi, Harriet Brown, Vegyn.
Prada Mode Los Angeles guests included: Ella Balinska, Thomas Demand, Hailey Benton Gates, Jeff Goldblum, Damson Idris, Rashida Jones, Milla Jovovich, Jon Rafman, Storm Reid, Gabrielle Union, Jordan Wolfson, among the others.
