No More I Love Ewes

Hello Darling, It's Me, Your Weekly Revelations.

NOW I GOT BEAUCOUP MONEY

The eternal question, “What would you do if you suddenly had an extra $10,000” has finally been answered by artist Dustin Yellin. For the upcoming Spring/Break Art Show, Yellin took an anonymous donor’s $10,000, ripped it up, and turned it into art—i.e. brown canvases covered in shredded bills. Whether the eight-piece series is brilliant, exorbitant, or just the result of the artist being on a time crunch, is basically irrelevant since he’s doing it for charity. The fair runs March 4-8 in Manhattan, and tickets are available on the website.

A LOVE AFFAIR WITHOUT BODIES

Artist Wei Li  has just constructed TSA’s worst nightmare, and it comes in three different colors. Li’s latest collection, Encased, includes handcrafted leather suitcases that appear to have human bodies stashed inside. The fashion forward body bags are intended to capture the beauty of human anatomy. They were created by scanning figures to produce exact leather molds of the body resulting in what we can’t help but call a very CSI-chic carry-on.

VIOLENTLY HAPPY BUT YOU’RE NOT HERE

The MoMa in New York is granting the public an opportunity to perceive what really goes on in the mind of Bjork. The museum’s retrospective will contain sound, instruments, objects and costumes from the singer’s more than twenty-year career. The Icelandic Princess, who recently released her bone-chilling album Vulnicura, hopes to convince viewers to take her music as seriously as they do art. Dress in your finest swan dress and make sure to witness the extensive exhibit which is set to open March 8th.

I DON’T KNOW WHAT WENT WRONG

Like it or not, the platitude “opposites attract” couldn’t be more true when it comes to Larry Clark and J. W. Anderson. The unexpected duo plan to release a collaborative book titled The Smell of Us through Document Journal this spring. The book follows the cast of Clark’s latest film as they roam the streets of Paris in J. W. Anderson outfits, styled by the young actors themselves. Expect Clark’s same raw, honest photography, only this time the subjects are wearing Anderson’s pre-fall collection instead of oversized tees and snap backs.

PHALLIC PHUN

It’s not the first time the male member has been used for artistic purposes, but it might be the first time it’s been used as a household appliance—and an expensive one at that. Phillips Personals LLC has crafted faucets, corkscrews, bar taps, and towel hooks, shaped into johnsons, hand-crafted, and metal cast. The old pecker never looked so classy.

TANKLIBRARY

Tesla’s got nothing on Raul Lemesoff’s new tank. He transformed a 1997 Ford Falcon into a moving library with the help of soda company, 7UP. The project, entitled “Weapon of Mass Destruction,” is an effort to do just the opposite by spreading education and keeping print alive. Lemesoff takes his weekend ride through the streets of Argentina offering over nine thousand free books to the public, as long as they promise to read them. Doesn’t seem like such a bad gig with Hemingway riding shotgun and Salinger in the back.

THE IDEA IS TO AVOID COLORING WITHIN THE LINES

Whoever said less is more clearly never witnessed Teebs’ animated paintings. It should come as no surprise that the artist is also a talented music producer, given his collage paintings which dance to their own rhythm atop the canvas—between chaos and order. The artist's solo show, Overgrown, will take place Saturday, March 14th at New Image Art Gallery, followed by an after party at Black Bar in Hollywood.

SAD GIRL ANTHEM

Kelela definitely did send a message—most likely to a soon to be ex—in her latest music video, “A Message.” In the simple and visually transfixing video, she slices off her dreads mid-way through, and then morphs into an emotive anime. The track, co-written and produced by Arca, is first of six in her upcoming Hallucinogen EP out May 5th.

THINGS WE BUY TO COVER UP WHAT’S INSIDE

2015 might as well already be dubbed the year of the Yeezus. Kanye is making headlines yet again this weekend for closing Paris Fashion Week with a series of exclusive concerts that go for about $100 a pop. The event was brought to fruition by a collaboration between Kanye and Louis Vuitton—a partnership that might come as a surprise to those of us who remember his heated boycotting of the label in 2013.

I JUST WANNA STAY BROKE FOREVER

Watch where you swipe, singles of Tinder. The popular dating app has finally found a way to cure Tinder addiction: limit the number of “likes” users can have without paying. Tinder Plus, released on Monday, allows users unlimited swipes, rewinds, and a “Passport” feature, that allows them to match with people around the world. Sounds a little like… every other dating app in the world. Except for one unapologetically ageist exception: Tinder plus costs $10 for users under 30 years old, and $20 for older users. Way to penalize an already marginalized group in the dating market, Tinder.

IT’S FRICKIN’ FREEZING IN HERE MR. BIGGLESWORTH

For those of us who indulge in Nicki Minaj level pussy pampering, we have two psychologists at University of Wisconsin and a composer at University of Maryland to thank for creating music specifically designed to appeal to the Felis catus. Composer David Teie has created music based on feline vocal communication using traditional instruments. Your furry friend is offered three different tunes including, Playful Kitty Ditties, Cat Ballads and Feline Airs to choose from, assuming they succeed in operating an iPod with their paws first. Keyboard cat may have been on to something.

SHE DOESN’T EVEN GO HERE

The Tzarina of fashion—Anna Wintour—has issued a command: no more babies at fashion week. Post-North’s tantrum at her Daddy’s fashion show collaboration with Adidas, Wintour has successfully banned babies from London Fashion Week, and is reportedly trying to do the same to New York Fashion Week. Kanye’s input? North was obviously just expressing concern for her father’s well being: “Maybe she was just scared for her daddy," he said. "She just wanted people to stop being mean to her daddy. Because she knows that her daddy loves the world and just wants to make it a more beautiful place."

PEACE SIGN IN THE AIR LIKE I’M NIXON

Who expresses the feels better than Drake? Nobody. That’s why they made a new app that allows users to insert Drake lyrics into all of their texts. The Drizzy Keyboard is comprised of five categories: ‘exes,’ ‘feels,’ ‘hustle,’ ‘random.’ and ‘hate.’ It’s available on the App Store for free, and has the ability to link song lyrics to the Spotify song that they’re from, just in case the person you’re talking with is starting from the bottom.
