Pilar Zeta | 'The Space of Variations'
by Sofia Lieblein
On May 14th, 2022, Argentinian-born Multimedia Artist and Director, Pilar Zeta, presented her debut solo exhibition in the United States, The Space of Variations, at Praz Delavallade Los Angeles, presented by ART IS.
Zeta’s work has garnered her international recognition for her physical and NFT art. Her most recent large-scale work was a site-specific installation for Miami Art Basel at Faena Miami, dubbed “Hall of Visions.”
Building on Zeta’s self-coined ‘mystical futurism’, The Space of Variations employs surrealistic landscapes, neo-metaphysical concepts, bold colors, and abstract shapes. To explore The Space of Variations is to not only observe Zeta’s jewel-like totemic sculptures or to step into her otherworldly virtual landscapes, but it is a way to interact with both the artist and the intricacies of her mind.

Resounding themes of creation, rebirth, spirit, intuition, and reflection occur in both the physical and metaphorical art in this exhibition. Mirrored surfaces, egg sculptures, and literal arch-shaped portals populate The Space of Variations, becoming motifs for the physical shape they take, and the truth that lies beneath the corporeal form.
