What do Zambia, Botswana and Australia have in common? Sampa The Great is a poet, songwriter and visual artist marrying three of these diverse cultures and bringing their influence into music. Now based in Melbourne, the artist is writing and releasing EP’s and mixtapes with strong political messaging (Sampa has a clearly-defined, no-holds-barred political outlook) weaved into hip hop beats and South African sounds — a tribute to her cultural background. Debuting an album dubbed The Return along with a brand new single and video ‘OMG’, the songstress has an exciting continuation of her music career coming.
While on tour in the U.S., Sampa shared with us a photo diary of her time in NYC:
