Photo Diary | Magic Island

by Morgan Vickery

Emma Czerny, a Berlin-based pop artist performing under the pseudonym Magic Island, is having a busy summer around the release of Warm Heaven, her newest EP. Currently traveling and performing around Europe, she is scheduled to do a special installation/performance at the Pop-Kultur festival in Berlin later in August.

Journeying over the lands between Greece, Berlin and London, she kept a visual diary for Flaunt, starting with the Syros in Greece — a magic island of a different kind where the artist played a few shows.

Here is the lead-in from Magic Island herself: “I'm based in Berlin but am usually out of the city 1-2 weeks per month, lots of traveling, either for shows and tour, my other job, friends and lovers.... here is a small collection of these moments.”

First stop on my Greece tour, Syros! I played at the Syros International Film Festival where artist accommodation was in an old Monastery. View from the bell tower <3

The best thing about Berlin is the creative community using unique spaces for shows, performances or exhibitions. The above is artist Wieland Schönefelder featured at an exhibition curated by Julian Jakob-Kneer in a BDSM club in Neukölln.
