Perrotin Contemporary Gallery to Exhibit Vital Artists

The regarded Contemporary art Gallery Perrotin, in New York City is exhibiting three vital artists.

#1 - John Henderson

On the 1st floor, John Henderson’s painting will be displayed. They showcase a subject to itself, where the final visual effect produces and maintains despite the removal of itself. Where one artist will complete a painting and thus complete the piece, Henderson completes a painting only to continue and add additional layers of paint to cover what already exists. These abstract and general brush strokes, once dry, are then abraded to reveal a previous layer. Henderson’s process is a way to produce trajectory rather than finality.

#2 Claude Rutault

On the 2nd floor, Claude Rutault’s historical works from 1970 will be on display. These works have not been seen since the 1980’s and are a rare treat. This will be Rutault’s second show at Perrotin and is something of a second life for the paintings themselves. The artist muses, “my paintings have a short life, but they have several of them”. Guests can expect to revisit work which has evolved to adapt and encompass the gallery space as he prefers his work to go through reinterpretation and is against the sometimes frozen authoritarian nature of art.

#6 - Paola Pivi

On the 3rd floor, Paola Pivi will display 70 Baby Bears. Pivi is known best for her life size bears, but this colorful colony is expected to bring variety. Her ninth solo show with the gallery, We are the baby gang, has been in anticipation for the last 6 years. These baby polar bears do everything from fighting, to playing, to exploring the top floor of the galley. However, rather than using fur, Pivi sports them with florescent feathers to represent adaptation to climate change. These bears occupy the land between fantasy and reality, but are a protagonist, personified by a hybridity between humanity and nature.
