Obscene City 160

In like a lion, out like Ellen! So sang the rites of spring when we whatsapp’d her for some insights on how to best ring in this Volume 1 of our 20th anniversary. It commenced with a torpedo up to San Francisco for the annual Cartier bash, where we stroked both panthers and one another’s egos as the night faded into fuzz, soundtracked by Jamie XX. Back to the ’wood to host our Roman besties, Fendi, at contemporary design showroom Casa Perfect (and also the former digs of his Kingliness, Elvis the Presley) alongside New Fantasy Issue cover star Charlie Heaton and nightlife enablers Maestro Dobel Tequila, Heineken, and Scribe Winery. DJ sets did their damnedest to the tickles of the Allah-Las and Eddie Ruscha. That was smoking. Down Melrose way, where we gave A$AP Rocky a lil’ bum squeeze at the opening of a new Acne Studios boutique, but not before we slipped into some furry Birkenstocks designed in a wink by the King of Kink, Mr. Rick Owens, inside his venerable La Brea boutique. Then we slid into Coachella for the umpteenth time, no condom but a lot of care, where we caught the Moschino party before it went up in flames (literally). Finally, we burned it down with the same poetic license with Witness Protection Issue star G-Eazy, who dished out some hits of late at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel alongside his boo boo Halsey, following DJ sets by Vic Mensa and Flaunt sister in the struggle Bec Adams in front of a crowd lit on Heineken and Maestro Dobel Tequila, one of whom was New Fantasy Issue cover girl Hari Nef, looking cute AF with a storm of friends and a grip of followers. It’s said that every dog has his day. Well, dogged we are in the pursuit of fun, and days we’ve known many to fade into dark, and then into days again. Thanks for keeping our vitals real in this, our 20th year.
