Premiere: Frankmusik's "Going Under" music video features dark and dreamy shots of an abandoned L.A.
by Amy Marie Slocum
Vincent Turner's first taste of fame came as a beat boxer and electro-pop act Mr. Mouth back in the mid 2000s in his native England. Mr. Mouth gave way to his electronic/pop alias Frankmusik in 2007, when he signed a deal with Island Records and EMI Publishing UK.
Garnering top charted singles and world tours as a solo artist and as a part of the group Far East Movement. Frankmusik began producing for other artists such as on Ellie Goulding, RuPaul, Sky Ferreira, and Tinchy Stryder as well as remixing material by other artists.
Frankmusik’s newest release titled, SS17, is a distinct departure from his previous works. He wanted to explore a very different pallet of sounds on this EP. The first big change was the inclusion of a new co-producer. Vincent (Frankmusik) and his manager reached out to Lindsay Lowend who is most known for his hyperactive, gospel infused beats. The two decided to rework a few of Lowend’s previous beats as a backdrop for Frankmusik’s new songs to help lead the creative direction for the EP.
The record is meant to start in a more solemn place and progress to a happy end. "Going Under" is the first taste of what’s to come with "June 17th" following. SS17 is the first of two releases from Frankmusk this year. The next, AW17 will follow SS17’s pallet sonically still keeping a strong electronic base. The EP titles allude to the fashion industry’s releasing of collections – two a year, styles for Spring/Summer and a few pieces for Autumn/Winter.

My girlfriend. She is my rock.

Restoring old cars. I find old cars a thing of beauty.
What was the last time you got lost?
It’s pretty hard these days with GPS but China’s a tough one even with it.
What did you do on your last day off?
Bowling. It’s pretty much all I do when I’m not working.
What’s your ideal vacation destination?
Somewhere were I can also do a little bit of work. I can’t ever fully relax. It’s horrible. But I love America so much it would probably just be a trip around the U.S. again. Or mainland China. I saw a slideshow ad in the Guangzhou Airport of nature shots around China and it looked absolutely amazing.
Do you have a pet?
No but my girlfriend and I take out her family’s German Shepard from time to time. I’d adopt him as my own son if I could.
Do you keep plants?
I used to obsessively look after a single basil plant. If I didn’t travel so much I’d get another one and a couple more herbs.
What was the last time you failed at something?
Beating my girlfriend at boardgames. I love boardgames but she kicks my ass every time. I always try to do some crazy strategy that never works out.
What was the last thing you ate that made you say “Damn!”?
Chicken Pot Pie from Claim Jumper at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas. I went to get the full experience of Downtown Vegas cuz I’ve never been and it definitely was. Too bad it came with a bowl of fruit.
What was the last thing you read?
Terry Pratchett. I love everything he writes. A shame he passed away. Such a great loss to literature.

One of my favorite board games Scythe. Everything about it is just beautiful. The artwork is stunning in all of it’s steampunk gorgeousness.
What was the last concert you went to?
Anamanaguchi ft. Lindsey Lowend. I worked with Tony (Lindsay Lowend) on my upcoming release. A track on there called 'June 17th' was his genius beat I reworked to use for myself. The name actually is the date he wrote it and sent it to me. Loved it so much I didn’t want to change it.
What was the last (piece of art/song/movie or TV show) you saw that made you jealous?
The Lemon Twigs. They are AMAZING. No two nerdy brothers should be that talented. It’s just not fair.

Disco. And video games. Many many hours paying video games.
What do you do to relax?
Work. It takes my mind off everything. Well sleep too.
