Moncler | 70th Anniversary 'Extraordinary Forever' Collection
by Jess Ferguson
Moncler celebrated its 70th anniversary on September 24 with the ‘Extraordinary Forever’ collection, which debuted in Milan’s Piazza del Duomo in the heart of the city.
The show kicked off with prima ballerina of Teatro alla Scala di Milano Virna Toppi and featured a symbolic number of artists—1,952 for the year Moncler was founded—who painted the plaza white while singing, dancing, and prancing around in the iconic Maya 70 down jackets. The show was put together by choreographer Sadeck Berrabah, who put a contemporary spin on the 70th anniversary show.
The event, open to the public, brought in nearly 18,000 people who watched the mesmerizing synchronicity and geometry of the cast as they moved about the square, at times looking like a snowstorm. Moncler is celebrating its anniversary in other capacities, including a limited-edition version of the Maya down jacket, which will launch October 1; an immersive exhibition that will tour in New York, London, and Seoul this fall; and a global campaign that will share Moncler’s most legendary moments over the past 70 years, including the 1968 Winter Olympics.
