Mae Muller is your new favorite singer, if she isn’t already. Based in London, the pop artist is best known for her confident lyrics, strong narratives, and undeniable pop melodies. Her goal is to be a spokeswoman for this new generation, unveiling layers of authenticity, talent, beauty, and confidence.
Now, she releases the official music video for “I Don’t Want Your Money,” shot entirely on her iPhone while we’re all quarantined inside our homes. The single itself was co-written by Mae and Jimmy Napes (Sam Smith, Khalid, Alicia Keys), and produced by Steve Fitzmaurice. The goal is to show others there are other ways to treat your significant other other than materialistically, especially when you get money on your own.
In the 3-minute clip, Mae takes fans on a vibrant virtual journey with various backdrops reminding you that the outside is near. Sporting different looks and singing the record amidst different scenes, May touches on the emotions that come with a relationship — while remaining a strong, independent woman. Females don’t need anything but love, affection, and respect, and that’s a fact.
Speaking on the visual, Mae states, “Before making the music video for ‘IDWYM’, I felt really anxious because I’d never shot a video myself before, especially on my iPhone! Despite that, it’s actually turned out to be one of my favourite videos. I’d like my fans to learn that they shouldn’t let their nerves stop them doing something they want to do, or the fear of ‘not getting it right’. We’re all learning and they can do anything they put their mind to.”
Her favorite memory from the experience was the driving scene with the wii wheel, with her phone balanced on a drawer, books, Easter egg box, and hair dryer. Watch it all unfold above!
