Louis Vuitton Fashion Eye | Cordoba + Transsiberian
by Madeleine Schulz
This April, Louis Vuitton is set to launch two new titles for its Fashion Eye series, which explores cities, regions and countries through the lenses of fashion photographers. The series is a nod to the Maison’s rich travel history and ongoing collaboration with contemporary artists. Its two newest editions, Cordoba and Transsiberian, are helmed by British photographer Miles Aldridge and Spanish photographer Coco Capitán, respectively.
For Cordoba, Aldridge returns to the city he first visited in 1989 as a student—and has frequented since. The photographer leans into his fascination with religious art, exploring the streets less travelled of the famed city whose sights, sounds and smells he has come to know well. He shares these insights while uncovering the politics, religion, family and kitsch of Cordoba.
In Transsiberian, Capitán takes readers on a journey along the famed Trans-Siberian Railway—albeit a different sojourn from what the Central Saint Martins graduate had expected. She says, “My trip on the Trans-Siberian Railway was unique in that pretty much everything I experienced was different from what I had imagined.” The images, and accompanying text, explore this unexpectedness.
