Hermès opened their new flagship store at 706 Madison Avenue in New York City, which opened to the public on October 3rd. Not surprisingly, the luxury brand takes their brick and mortar strategy to an entirely elevated level, immersing their patrons in an experience of architecture, art, contemporary design, and other reflections of hedonism and beauty.
The 20,250 square-foot store belongs to a Federalist-style building which was originally built in 1921, and is joined together with two other buildings connected to each other by RDAI, a Parisian architecture agency led by Denis Montel. Interiors include inspiration from the Art Deco period of New York’s past and Manhattan’s first skyscrapers; while each salon is unique, the overall boutique is draped in warm neutrals with tinctures of vibrancy. The new Hèrmes store has been in the works for eight years, and offers “a little bit of Paris” on the Upper East Side.
