Ferragamo | Maximilian Davis's Runway Debut at MFW

by Jess Ferguson

Maximilian Davis made his runway debut for Ferragamo at Milan Fashion Week after being named creative director in March. The Spring/Summer 2023 show was inspired by Hollywood culture with a more contemporary twist, drawing inspiration from Hollywood elements, from sunsets to sensuality, while also drawing upon Old Hollywood, including Marilyn Monroe’s sparkling red heels designed by Ferragamo in 1959.

The collection includes more laidback, beachy pieces like microshorts and elevated staples like tank tops. Sensuality is also a focus, with tight, glossy leathers; wide-woven knits to reveal some skin; and sheer, fine materials. And the glitz and glamor of Hollywood is also captured.

Ferragamo’s SS23 line blends the old with the new: while the clothes reflect a contemporary Hollywood, the backdrop is the 17th-century palace of the former Archbishop’s Seminary of Milan.
