WHAT’S IN YR FRIDGE, ILSE VALFRE?
by Eva Barragan
Mexican born designer and illustrator, Ilse Valfré, is not your typical girl next door. Three years ago Valfré worked as a kindergarten teacher in Montessori and today she is the founder of a million dollar indie apparel and accessories brand in LA. According to Valfré her career took off the second she decided to quit her 9-5. She moved back in with her parents, sent illustrations to editors left and right and when no one "took the bait," she took faith into her own hands and consistently began blogging and posting her images online.
Valfré built an empire through social media posting daily images of her wild-at-heart, take-no-shit, can't-be-tamed, one-of-a-kind characters inspired by Valfré's Latin roots and her unique imagination. Her followers quickly began to swoon over her cheeky images and thus the idea for a fashion line was born. Valfré's illustrations encourage her fans to empower one another, to be bold and brave, and to never ever quit their day dream.
We know what this LA-based entrepreneur puts on her shirts. But we were wondering: What’s in yr fridge, Valfré?
"My husband and I like to collect kitschy artwork. We usually find it online or in local galleries in L.A."
"Shiloh, our dog, was our first baby. He's the sweetest, but is definitely jealous of his human siblings. They all fight over our attention and he loves to steal their toys and rips them apart when we don't take him out with us."
"I have an obsession with La Croix! It's a great option since I no longer drink sugar-based drinks. I'm sure it probably isn't that healthy either, but at least it's 0% sugar. I know: So LA!"
