Adidas Unveils Time-Traveling Daniel Arsham Short Film, 'Hourglass'

Daniel Arsham and adidas Originals team up in collaboration for a short film entitled, Hourglass. The idea centers around time travel on a fluid spectrum and portrays on film through a combination of fiction and documentary. The theme of an hourglass imitates Daniel’s personal experiences that merge his past as a part of his future.

Hourglass flings viewers into the childhood of Arsham in an autobiographical look at his experience with a hurricane, while simultaneously showcasing a first look at his ‘New York’ adidas trainer.

The ‘New York’ trainer was chosen to highlight the futuristic elements of the sneaker, relating to the time spectrum of the film. The material reflects the idea of being “in process,” which translates to a rough canvas with raw edges. Daniel’s design of the adidas sneaker directly echoes his idea of time as a time traveler himself.
