BREAK-IN

Inside the grey building at the Longwood Estate, on the third floor, two doors to the left, exists a room with a glass case containing plans to destroy the local UNESCO world heritage forest. A “spring cleaning” of sorts to make room for Longwood2.0, a garish contemporary housing development. The Longwood family is hellbent on a planned conflagration, but Grace has to foil the mission—the trees offered the necessary balm of shade.
A brief stint in espionage while preparing to enroll in the CIA grants Grace a rudimentary skill-set to infiltrate and destroy the plans. Off Grace goes, recruiting her jewelry, like a Versace hair clip, to pick a lock perfect for her coiffure. The Gucci knee pads, très fashionable for the fall season, but also très useful to shimmy through the air vent into said glass case room, are perfect. All Grace needs, then, is the glass cutter, which she so eloquently forgets to pack. A Fool’s Errand!

STAKEOUT

Senator Smith is quite the loquacious type behind the podium and behind the walls of whichever hotel he reserves for whatever business in which he finds himself at 3AM on a weekday. “Oh, if I could see, if I could see, if I could see...” June mutters to herself, as she peers through binoculars up to the 5th floor of The Ritz, desiring to catch a glimpse of the Senator mid-misdemeanor. Naturally, on a stakeout, one brings snacks for the long night ahead, a donut or two, chips, and a carrot for your health. After ingesting only donuts, June finds herself dozing, dozing, and dozing, until sweet sleep takes hold. No evidence. Another wasted stakeout. A Fool’s Errand!

GAMBLING

Some enjoy clubbing or a glass of scotch, and others might vent from life’s troubles by skydiving. A roll of the dice, however, is Hannah’s vice. Roulette, blackjack, and poker are the medication. Yes, Hannah is indeed over her head, not only for the hours withered at the gambling table, but the debt in which she dug herself; home, credit, medical, pet—you name it! Money is owed and tempers have been tried. Hannah is frustrated: she knows this exact path led to her parent’s divorce, but cheekily, she also picked up a trick or two from watching them dominate the tables in Macau. Perhaps she’s gone too far attempting to gamble off her house while perpetually sipping vesper martinis. Much to her chagrin, an enforcer from the local mob makes Hannah a visit, brandishing a knife and his necklace of severed digits. This one was tough; she’s just recently gotten a manicure. “I promise I’ll pay up!” she says in desperation, hoping her newly-gelled nails will be spared. A Fool’s Errand!
