“You spend however much time creating this masterpiece and then one day you invite the world in to listen, dissect, and react. When they say music is timeless it really is. I started working on Without a Smile two years ago and it’s not only the epitome of how I grew up, but I was reliving some of those same moments while working on this project,” the Orange, NJ native states. “There were situations I had to go through without a smile and there were situations I couldn’t get through without a smile. That’s why I chose to break the tape into half to really depict those two sides.”

Dougie F’s lead single “Training Day” features a cinematic, yet trippy approach to music videos as he pays homage to a classic Black film and his favorite actor on the films 19th anniversary. Following very closely to the Blockbuster movie Training Day, Dougie plays on the character of Denzel Washington’s as he reenacts the eerie story of a crooked cop and a rookie on the force, all while fully immersing your senses into a frenzy both visually and sonically.

Training Day is one of my favorite movies, Denzel is one of my favorite actors. I really watched the movie while working on the song trying to score certain scenes. Although we shot mid pandemic and had to work with less than we’d like, the video came out exactly how I intended.” Enjoy!
