Dior Men | Spring 2023 California Couture in LA

by Madeleine Schulz

On Thursday, May 19, Dior debuted their California Couture Spring 2023 collection guest designed by ERL. The House took over Venice Beach with a sprawling electric blue runway down Winward Avenue, leading (almost) to the sea.

Kim Jones enlisted LA designer Eli Russell Linnetz, creative director of ERL, to work on the Spring 2023 collection. His own brand hailing from Venice beach, Linnetz brought an LA sensibility to the Parisian House’s tailoring. The collection is infused with the spirit of the ocean—literally in the ocean-recovered polyester tailored looks, and more implicitly so in the blues of may of the looks.

Under the lights of the infamous Venice sign, models sauntered towards the palm tree-lined oceanfront in pieces which blended Californian cool and Parisian chic with ease. This merging is illustrative of the two designers’ talents combining; two generations of talent inspiring and elevating one another. Such is the product of a collection inspired by the Dior archives from Linnetz’s year of birth: 1991, imbued by Jones and himself with refreshingly modern silhouettes and hues.

Below, the House offers a behind-the-scenes look into the tailoring of some of the season’s pieces:
