Dior | Cruise 2020
by Anahita Safarzadeh
Dior’s Maria Grazia Chiuri launches a lovely collection embracing global styles and highlighting African cultures. The Cruise 2020 collection was featured in Marrakesh this week and magnetized artists with different backgrounds and African cultures who desired to work together to highlight the intersectionality of culture and fashion.
Themes of the collaboration embody the expatriate motifes of poetic nostalgia; an escape for artists, poets, writers, and nomads to find a new home within the landscape of Morocco, the Mediterranean, Europe, and Africa. The story told within the fabric of the collection grows like a family tree, showing us its roots and origins through diversity. Here we get a beautifully woven cultural dialogue which condenses the diverse realities of fashion as well as the visionary act of recreating a collective memory through design.
