Dior | Autumn/Winter 2022-2023 Collection
by Chase Thompson
Dior’s Creative Director, Maria Grazia Chiuri, walks us through the past and present in Dior’s Autumn/Winter 2022-2023 ready-to-wear collection at a recent showcase in Paris. Chiuri drew inspiration from Mariella Bettineschi’s artwork titled, The Next Era, which illustrated an array of women with their eyes duplicated and split to replicate the female condition during the 16th to the 19th century. The Next Era also serves as the force behind reappropriating the Roger Vivier for Dior pump through the use of embroidery.
Italian start-up, D-Air lab, transforms the original model of the Bar jacket into a new system that regulates the body’s humidity and warms it up if needed. In the show, the Bar jacket is shown paired with a bodysuit that looks like a network of colored veins and arteries in luminescent colors. From clothing to accessories, this season revisits and reclaims the Dior heritage.
