Today Channel Tres releases his new single “Sexy Black Timberlake”, a modern hip-house jam stripped down to a simple yet sticky beat; even someone with no rhythm could shake their hips to this. Channel Tres is a Compton-born rapper and electronic producer, becoming a favorite in Los Angeles’ house music scene. Not only will Channel’s ice-cold and gravelly voice echo across this summer’s dance floors, it will also tackle the stifling stereotypes of being a young black man on the rise in America: being seen as either a violent threat, or a mythical sex object. In this song, Channel addresses the latter:

“As a black male, I’ve experienced being vilified or objectified depending on what I was wearing or what I was doing. “Sexy Black Timberlake” is me being objectified as a sex object for my skin color. The production was inspired by The Chronic mixed with the west coast dance music I’ve been creating,” said Channel.

The music video, directed by Ian Goodwin, portrays a variety of hands from hidden bodies caressing Channel.

“Sexy Black Timberlake” is the first single from Channels second upcoming EP, Black Moses, dropping August 2 on Godmode. Fans of his vary from Elton John to Anderson Paak to Disclosure. You can catch him on his Australian Headline Tour this summer. Check out the music video, song, and tour dates below!
