Cass x Prada | Reimagining the America’s Cup Sneaker

by Madeleine Schulz

Prada enlists artist Cassius Hirst—known as Cass—to reinvent Prada’s America’s Cup sneaker. A fitting collaboration; the artist has been painting sneakers since he was fourteen. They’ve since become his canvas, his artwork worn by a host of notable personalities, from A$AP Rocky to the revered Virgil Abloh.

A nod to Hirst’s entrenchment in the music realm, the four Cass x Prada designs take their names from the ‘life’ of a sound: ATT4CK, D3CAY, SUST4IN, and REL3ASE. On the experience of working with the House, bringing a classic nineties design forth into the twenty-first century, Hirst says, “The best part about this project—this collaboration—was how willing Prada are to invest their time, to be open to ideas, to challenges. And to really commit to something new.”

The limited release of 3,000 sneakers are available in select Prada stores and on prada.com
