Created in 2002 by Gildas Loaëc and Masaya Kuroki, Kitsuné upholds Art de Vivre through its fashion brand Maison Kitsuné, music label Kitsuné Musique, and cafés/bars Café Kitsuné. Already established in six locations in Tokyo, Paris, Seoul, and Okayama, Café Kitsuné has finally arrived to New York’s West Village neighborhood.

Reinventing the classic Parisian café and wine bar experience with an added Japanese twist, Café Kitsuné is an all-day, everyday unique spot with nothing quite like it in NYC. Drawn up by Chef Yuji Tan, the menu features sweet and savory bites, small plates, and specialty coffee drinks; alongside a rotating selection of natural wines curated by wine expert Billy Smith. With Japanese takes on comforting French dishes such as Azuki Toast made with sweet red bean and Croque Monsieur with tuna and house béchamel, the food here is imaginative and flavorful. The smooth, full-bodied coffee cultivated in Costa Rica and roasted in France with notes of chocolate and hints of cherry is not to be underestimated either.

Designed by Kuroki and collaborator TBD Architecture Studio, the space is complete with wood finishings, exposed brick walls, and soft ambient light that provide a casual, relaxed atmosphere. Oh, and do note that the beautiful tableware used in the café is handcrafted by La Porcelaine de La Fabrique and is indeed available for purchase, as well as their coffee beans, homemade granola, and a selection of jams from Brooklyn based BRINS. Whether you pop-in for takeaway, sit down for coffee and a treat, or come in for a glass of wine and small plates, this place is worth seeking out for a unique experience.

Located at 550 Hudson Street, New York, NY.
