Burton | A Collection With the Late Virgil Abloh

by Sam Franzini

Snowboarding apparel and accessories brand Burton has announced its second collaboration with Virgil Abloh, the late visionary and designer. Abloh had designed the collection over the past two years, and 10 exclusive boards were auctioned off that helped the Virgil Abloh “Post-Modern” Scholarship Fund, which aims to help BIPOC representation in snowboarding. Abloh, a frequent snowboarder, visited Burton in 2017 for inspiration on upcoming projects in fashion, art, and philanthropy. In 2020, he and the brand connected again and began work on the collection.

In addition to the collection and the auction, Burton will support BIPOC snowboarding representation with $300,000 over three years. Burton team rider Zeb Powell said, “I try to leave my impact on snowboarders just like Virgil left an impact on me... Taking the time to talk, it meant so, so, much.”
