German experimentalist group Brandt Brauer Frick debut their new single and associated video clip, “Step.” Directed by Anthony Dickenson and featuring Barcelona-based dancers Sandra Lee and Carla Cervantes Caro (lookathingsdifferent), the video is the first of a series of the neoclassical trio’s exploration of a host of dance styles.
Tapping into global talent, the dances and dancers featured serve as an embodiment of the psychological need experienced by so many in times of ambivalence. This is also a nod to the focal point of the forthcoming album: the dancefloor. The band break the usual constraints of a given genre, imbuing their techno neoclassical style with disruptive rhythms to create sounds made to be danced to—sounds that facilitate human connection.
This release foreshadows what’s to come inBrandt Brauer Frick’s September 30 EP STEP, ahead of their sixth studio album, “Multifaith Prayer Room,” slated for release next year.
