Adrian Younge | New film ‘TAN’ following Album release
by Madison Douglas
Adrian Younge’s new short film TAN is out now available on Amazon video. The film is a companion piece to Younge’s multimedia project, which includes his album The American Negro and the podcast Invisible Blackness with Adrian Younge. Written, directed, composed, and edited by Younge, the film sees five fragile souls, confused and in a haze of consciousness and intolerance, enter an eerie dimension. Piece-by-piece, each one gains an understanding of their fates and what they left behind, none realizing they are deceased. “TAN represents the racial friction that exists between Black and White society,” notes Younge. “As a Black American, it’s my way of synthesizing our discarded history with a new vision for survival.” Younge’s film offers profound insight into the consciousness of being Black in America.
