What's In Yr Fridge, Zen Freeman?

by flaunt

Zen Freeman, the British DJ and producer, has earned his place at the top of the pack – his tracks are staples on the playlists of high-profile events, labels like Fly Eye Recordings have released his highly acclaimed pieces, and clientele like Leonardo DiCaprio and Elton John regularly dial him up to soundtrack their parties.

But Zen his not one to rest on his laurels. Instead he continues to pursue new territory, and this month sees the completion of perhaps his biggest project to date when the inaugural RHA Festival, which he co-founded, hits the shores of Mexico.  It promises to be a success: sun, sand, water, and some of the hottest names in EDM is an undeniably winning combination.

Ever since he moved to Los Angeles nearly 17 years ago, Freeman has steadily checked box after box on what would be any L.A. transplant's bucket list.

With all this, we had to ask: What’s in yr fridge, Zen Freeman?

Walking out the Door…What is it with DJ's and shoes? No-one can see them behind the decks anyways!

Where the Music Happens…This is my studio where I’ve spent the last two years recording my album. Blood. Sweat. Tears.

Mixing the Night Away…My at home DJ booth where I spend a lot of time mixing and recording sets for clients. It's also a great space to practice mixing, bizarrely its something many DJs seem struggle with these days.

Off the Shelf…The randomness of my life.  A piece of my vinyl collection that doesn’t get as much play as it used to. A boxing glove that Manny Pacquiao sent me after his last fight against Floyd Mayweather. And who doesn’t have a Daft Punk helmet in their studio?

Cozy Spot…away from the touring I get to come home to what really makes me happy. My family.

In the 'Hood… Coming from England I never take these California blue skies for granted. After years under England's leaden heavens, these skies always manage to put me in chipper mood.

Hop, Skip and a 2 hour-flight from LA away…I discovered this part of Mexico while touring almost a decade ago and I’ve since gone back many times. It has everything I’m looking for in a vacation amazing beaches, delicious food and wine, luxurious 5 star resorts and it even has phenomenal surfing. This year I’ve co-founded RHA Festival (rhafest.com) which is going to take place June 30th and July 1st in Punta Mita. A couple of thousand people on a remote and beautiful beach in Mexico, and some of my favorite underground DJs. A weekend not to miss.
