PRADA Encourages FEMALE EMPOWERMENT IN THEIR S/S18 COLLECTION

by Flaunt Intern

In Milan Prada unveiled a show like no other— empowering women with a militant theme. The show broke the barrier bringing in a grunge yet sophisticated atmosphere. “Women’s fashion inherently tries to evaluate the depiction of femininity and feminism, looking outside itself to tell its own story,” reads the show notes.

Miuccia Prada went full throttle with girl power in her S/S18 collection. Prada brought rebellious angst with studded belts, leopard print, and even spider-printed shirts. The show made a statement and Prada even mentioned, after the show, that "I want women to be strong because there is still so much against us. I think that we need a lot of cleverness and intelligence and strength.”

Prada brought in nine women to design the set of the show and some of the artwork was even featured on pieces from the collection. The venue was covered in comic book art, illustrating female empowerment. Check out the snippet from the live show above and see how FLAUNT celebrated with Prada for The Aftershock Issue here
